Lexi Thompson dropped big news when she announced her retirement of sorts, but that hasn't slowed her down one bit.

Although the one-time major champion finished the 2025 season with no wins, there were still big moments.

In 2025, Lexi Thompson played 15 events on a limited schedule, recording two top-10 finishes and official earnings of $759,700. 

Thompson said about her 2025 schedule, “It might have added up to a few more than I wanted to.”

Thompson finished tied for 19th at the CME Group Tour Championship held from November 20 to 23, 2025, at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples, Florida, with a total score of 11-under par.

Thompson's best results were a tied-fourth finish at the Meijer LPGA Classic and a second-place finish at the Dow Championship team event.

Thompson's highest earnings in 2025 came at the Dow Championship with $195,577, followed by the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship with $170,561.

Lexi Thompson’s semi-retirement

Lexi Thompson announced on May 28, 2024, that she would step away from a full-time LPGA schedule ahead of the U.S. Women’s Open. Thompson later continued to play a reduced schedule in 2025, which led to confusion about her decision. 

In May 2024, in an interview with Golfweek, Thompson clarified her previous announcement.

“I feel like once I made the announcement, I feel it really got misconstrued that I was retiring. But I never said that word. I just said I was stepping back from a full-time schedule."

Even though she was playing fewer tournaments than before, she still performed well in the major championships, finishing tied for 14th place at the 2025 Chevron Championship and tied for 12th place at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship.
