English golferAaron Rai's breakthrough at Aronimink was about more than just a major trophy. His performance at the PGA Championship brought with it Rai’s first major win, fundamentally shifting his financial trajectory for the 2026 season
Rai finished 9 under par, three shots above runner-up Jon Rahm and Alex Smalley. His closing round of 5-under 65 made all the difference, separating him from the packed leaderboard.
Rai’s maiden major secured him a $3.69 million payout. The total purse of the PGA Championship was also at an all-time high. It was a $20.5 million purse with an increase of $1.5 million from last year.

The Englishman earned more than his entire 2025 PGA Tour earnings at the Aronimink. Over the 21 PGA Tour events last season, Rai secured $3,274,601, $415,399 less than what the Wanamaker Trophy brought along with it.
Rai’s 2026 PGA Tour earnings stand at $4,211,334 with the second half of the season yet to be played.
Out of the star-studded leaderboard, few would’ve picked Rai to cross the line. However, he created his own fortune with the bold performance.
The 31-year-old became the first Englishman to win a major in the stroke-play era and the first since Jim Barnes, who won the first two editions.
Rai also broke the streak of American champions at the PGA Championship, who had dominated the major by winning its last 10 editions.
The Wanamaker Trophy secured him his biggest payout, but let’s take a look at his other notable winnings.
Aaron Rai’s Other Notable Winnings
Rai’s win at Aronimink brought a surge to his PGA Tour winnings. However, before this, he did secure some significant earnings.
The 31-year-old’s first PGA title was the Wyndham Championship, which he won in 2024. It was Rai’s second biggest payout as he added $1,422,000 to his wallet.
Back in 2023, Rai finished tied for 3rd at the RBC Canadian Open. That secured him $477,000 in winnings.
A T2 finish at the Rocket Mortgage Classic in 2024 helped him win $616,400. Another notable payout was the $451,250 which Rai acquired after a T11 finish at the Arnold Palmer Invitational last year.
Rai’s total career earnings now reach $16,025,392 as he enters the second half of the season
