Wyndham Clark clinched the CJ Cup Byron Nelson on Sunday. He made sure to thank his sponsors on Sunday after they continued supporting him despite his incidents at Oakmont and Quail Hollow.
The 32-year-old ended his two-year wait for a win by shooting a final-round 60 at TPC Craig Ranch in McKinney on May 25 to win the CJ Cup Byron Nelson by three shots.
It was the fourth PGA Tour win of his career. After the round, Clark spoke to CBS reporter Amanda Balionis and started by thanking the people and sponsors who stood by him.
"I have to first thank a lot of people because what happened last year at Oakmont wasn't the greatest thing," Clark said. "My sponsors, Power Design, SoFi, T-Mobile, Lexus, all of them stayed with me, which means a lot. So I'm very thankful for that."
He added, "The greatest thing about having a downfall like that is the comeback," referring to his return to the winner's circle after a difficult year on and off the course.
"Today feels really special after having a really tough year and grinding it out."
The incidents Clark referenced were well documented. He smashed a locker at Oakmont after the 2025 U.S. Open and broke a T-Mobile sponsor sign after throwing his driver at the 2025 PGA Championship at Quail Hollow.
He apologized for both at the time. Sunday was the first time he addressed the full journey back.
The comeback wasn't instant. Wyndham Clark said momentum started building in the fall while working with swing coach Pat Coyner. The form carried into 2026, but the results hadn't followed until this week.
Wyndham Clark Ranked 132nd in Putting Entering the Week
Heading into the CJ Cup Byron Nelson, Wyndham Clark ranked 132nd on the PGA Tour in strokes gained putting. Over four rounds at TPC Craig Ranch, he finished first in that category for the week.
The change came from a Ping putter he added before the Masters: the Ping Scottsdale Tex Ally Blue Onset mallet. He later extended the same model. The results followed over four rounds at TPC Craig Ranch.
On Sunday, Clark opened with four birdies in his first six holes. He went birdie-eagle on the 11th and 12th, made back-to-back birdies on the 14th and 15th, and sank the 15th from 45 feet. His final approach stopped 2 feet, 7 inches from the cup.
Back-nine 28. Tournament total: 30-under par. Si Woo Kim shot 65 on Sunday and couldn't catch him. Scottie Scheffler shot 65 and finished third.
Clark, playing in the penultimate pairing, never gave either of them a chance.
