Jordan Spieth said his swing is “solid,” marking a key point in his return.

This was eighteen months after a left wrist injury and a period spent rebuilding his game through practice and limited competitive rounds.

Jordan Spieth shot his lowest round since July and used the moment to reflect on how close his game is to where he wants it to be. In doing so, he showed the level he has been working toward in recent months.

That confidence in his swing was evident in how he assessed his current progress during the press conference following the first round of the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

"As I continue to play in more and more rounds here, it just gets better every day. I'm not worried about it getting too far off or anything like that, I'm just trying to tighten it up just a little bit one day at a time," Spieth said.

Jordan Spieth admitted he got into a “bad kind of mental place” in Phoenix, which led to a missed cut at the WM Phoenix Open.

However, he said the missed cut came from a mental lapse rather than an issue with his swing.

In contrast, his performance at the 2026 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am reflected that belief, as he reached 10-under and tied for 10th after two rounds.

Spieth opened with a bogey-free 66, including an eagle on the par-4 ninth, and then followed it with a 68 to carry that momentum forward.

With that, he heads into the third round five shots behind co-leaders Ryo Hisatsune and Akshay Bhatia.

He also pointed to the work behind the current state of his swing.

Addressing his swing after Round 1, the 13-time PGA Tour winner said, "Yeah, I feel like it's solid. It's in a great spot. It's just the consistency and the tightness of the face control now, so that just comes with playing more tournaments. I just haven't played many rounds since August, and it really got really good since August with a lot of work."

Spieth’s recent progress has also followed a period of recovery after left wrist surgery in August 2024, which limited his competitive schedule. 

He returned to Augusta National in April 2025 and finished tied for 14th at the Masters, marking his first major start after the procedure. 

Since then, his focus has remained on rebuilding his swing through practice and gradually increasing tournament rounds.
