Two PGA Tour events concluded on the same Sunday.

Akshay Bhatia won the 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational on March 8 and won $4 million at Bay Hill. Meanwhile, Ricky Castillo won the 2026 Puerto Rico Open on the same day and won $720,000.

It truly reveals how the tour’s event structure shapes the rewards players take home.

Akshay Bhatia at the 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational

Three-time PGA Tour winner Akshay Bhatia defeated Daniel Berger on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff after both finished at 15-under par.

During the final round, Bhatia posted a 3-under 69 and moved into contention with four consecutive birdies on holes 10 through 13 before adding an eagle on the par-5 16th.

Berger, who began the back nine with a five-shot lead, matched Bhatia through regulation but three-putted for bogey from long range on the playoff hole, allowing Bhatia to secure the win with a two-putt par and claim his third PGA Tour title.

The victory, which came in a Signature Event, earned him $4 million and 700 FedExCup points.

Ricky Castillo at the 2026 Puerto Rico Open

Meanwhile, the Puerto Rico Open concluded at Grand Reserve Golf Club in Rio Grande on the same day as the 2026 Arnold Palmer Invitational, where Ricky Castillo secured his first PGA Tour title with a one-shot victory at 17-under 271.

Castillo held off Korn Ferry Tour graduate Chandler Blanchet, who finished second, while 18-year-old sponsor exemption Blades Brown placed third at 14-under, one shot ahead of Davis Thompson.

With the win, Castillo earned $720,000 from the $4 million purse, along with 300 FedExCup points and 22.1 Official World Golf Ranking points in the opposite-field event.
