Alex Fitzpatrick credited his brother Matt after the duo fired a record-breaking 15-under 57 on Saturday. The score moved the pair to 30-under at the Zurich Classic.
“I didn't really do much the first nine holes. I just kind of just let him do his thing. Yeah, it was pretty cool to watch," Alex Fitzpatrick said on Saturday at TPC Louisiana.
"You know, playing alongside my brother, who happens also to be one of the best players in the world, is pretty fun. When he's playing well, it's pretty cool to watch,” he added in the clip TenGolf shared on YouTube.
The brothers entered the final round after posting a 15-under 57 in Saturday’s four-ball round, setting a new tournament scoring record and opening a four-shot lead.

Matt Fitzpatrick chipped in for a birdie at the first, made eagle at the seventh with a putt from outside 30 feet, and added six birdies across the round to keep the card moving.
Meanwhile, the 27-year-old converted his birdie chances, kept the team in position when Matt missed, and helped turn birdie looks into clean pars when the alternate pressure shifted.
While Matt delivered the early jump, Alex held the round together through the middle stretch and added enough on the back nine to turn a low round into a record one.
Matt Fitzpatrick reflects on the round that built their lead
Matt Fitzpatrick then picked up from where Alex left off. "Amazing day. Probably not kind of sunk in how well we played today, if I'm honest. Yeah, it was just hole after hole," said the 2026 RBC Heritage winner.

Matt Fitzpatrick’s Winning Equipment Breakdown from RBC Heritage 2026Matt Fitzpatrick just beat Scottie Scheffler in a playoff at the RBC Heritage with one of the coolest 4-iron approaches you’ll see all year. He stuck it close from 196 yards into the wind, then drained the putt using his trusted Bettinardi blade. After struggling on the greens early in 2026, switching back to that same putter sparked his form. Now get into every club in his winning bag. Chris Torres/EPA/ImagoFitzpatrick trusted a 9-degree Titleist GT3 driver with the Surefit setting at A1 throughout the week. The GT3 features a speed-tuned design with an adjustable CG track that sits closer to the face for dynamic control, which suited the tight fairways perfectly. He paired it with a Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 65 TX shaft. Fitzpatrick ranked fourth in strokes gained off the tee, showing his driver setup gave him the accuracy edge needed to navigate Harbour Town. via TitleistHis fairway woods were TaylorMade Qi35 models at 15 degrees for the 3-wood and 18 degrees for the 5-wood. The 3-wood carried a Mitsubishi Tensei AV Orange 75 TX shaft, while the 5-wood used a Tensei 1K Pro Orange 80 TX shaft. The Qi35's lower profile increases center-face contact probability, and the adjustable hosel allowed him to fine-tune loft settings for Harbour Town's specific yardages. via TaylorMade GolfThe club that won the tournament was a Ping i240 4-iron. While Fitzpatrick often plays the older i210, he platoons this newer i240 with his 7-wood depending on course conditions. He put the i240 in the bag specifically for the final round and playoff. From 209 yards out, he flighted it through the wind using a Ping CFS X shaft. The i240 features an elastomer insert for efficient energy transfer and a soft feel, helping him hit his precise distance number when it mattered most. via PINGFitzpatrick's 5-iron through 9-iron were Ping S55 models, an older design he has stuck with for years. These irons feature 431 stainless steel cast heads with a compact Players profile. His S55 irons are set super flat to compensate for his out-to-in swing path, helping him start the ball straighter with a pull-draw shape. The Ping CFS X shafts in these irons matched his 4-iron's feel and gapping. @jonathanrwall/InstagramThe Ping i210, which debuted over 13 years ago, remains a staple of Fitzpatrick's testing but took a backseat to the i240 this week. The i210 uses a true cavity-back design with an ABS badge that's 8.5 grams lighter than previous models, allowing more perimeter weighting for increased MOI. Even when it isn't in the starting lineup, this model's control and consistency serve as the benchmark for any iron Fitzpatrick considers putting in play. via PINGFitzpatrick carried four Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges with lofts at 48, 52.5, 56, and 61.5 degrees. The 60-degree wedge was bent to 61.5 degrees for extra loft around Harbour Town's tricky greens. Each wedge featured True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 shafts. He used F grinds on the lower lofts, and M grinds on the 56 and 61.5 for versatility in tight turf and bunkers. via TitleistThe putter that rolled in the winning birdie was a Bettinardi BB1 Flow prototype, the same blade Fitzpatrick used for all four of his PGA Tour wins. He had switched to a Bettinardi BB48 mid-mallet in the fall and won the DP World Tour Championship, but lost strokes putting in his first four PGA Tour starts of 2026. He immediately returned to the BB1 blade and gained strokes on the greens in all four subsequent events. The putter features a unique C-Groove face and is crafted from Bettinardi's Double Aged Stainless Steel (DASS). via Bettinardi GolfFitzpatrick played the Titleist Pro V1x golf ball throughout the tournament. While he is known for sticking with specific vintages for years, his current setup utilizes the performance window of the 2023–2025 platform. This ball features a fast, high-gradient core and a spherically tiled 348 tetrahedral dimple design for consistent, high-launch flight. His loyalty to the Pro V1x line ensures he maintains the high-spin profile he requires for precision approach shots. via TitleistFrom his 9-degree driver down to his 61.5-degree lob wedge, every full-swing club in Fitzpatrick's bag was fitted with Golf Pride Tour Velvet grips. The Tour Velvet's non-slip surface pattern provides maximum playability in all weather conditions. By keeping his grip choice uniform across 13 clubs, Fitzpatrick eliminates feel variables during club changes, though he maintains a specialized Bettinardi pistol grip on his prototype putter for maximum feedback on the greens. Adore Golf Grips/FacebookThe Mitsubishi Tensei AV Raw Orange 65 TX shaft in his Titleist GT3 provided the stability needed for Harbour Town’s narrow corridors. This shaft incorporates a tighter 1K Carbon Fiber weave in the handle to reduce torque and tighten dispersion. The counterbalanced design helps players with faster tempos maintain control. Fitzpatrick's TX flex indicates the extra-stiff profile required for his aggressive swing speed, helping keep his ball-flight penetration consistent throughout the week. via MitsubishiHis 5-wood carried a Mitsubishi Tensei 1K Pro Orange 80 TX shaft, a heavier 80-gram option for added stability from the turf. The 1K Pro Orange incorporates premium construction and the Xlink Tech Resin System for improved energy transfer. By matching the counterbalanced feel of his driver but increasing the weight, Fitzpatrick ensures a consistent transition when shifting from the tee to long par-5 approach shots. via Mitsubishi Golf ShaftsFitzpatrick’s irons featured Ping CFS X shafts, a mid-launch, mid-spin profile he has trusted for over a decade. His specs are among the most unique on Tour, his 7-iron is built to a specific length to accommodate his extremely flat lie angles. His progression runs roughly 4 degrees flatter than standard (from 58.25° to 60.25°), a setup that perfectly offsets his out-to-in swing path to produce his signature, controlled pull-draw. via eBayAll 4 Titleist Vokey SM10 wedges used True Temper Dynamic Gold Tour Issue S300 shafts. The Tour Issue designation ensures the tightest weight tolerances available for professional play. The S300 flex provides a slightly more "active" feel than his iron shafts, which better players often prefer for increased "touch" and flight control on partial wedge shots around Harbour Town’s tiny greens. via X
"The score, I only just realized we finished with five in a row. You know, you kind of are thinking about the next shot, so you're not really thinking about that. Yeah, a special day," said Matt during the press conference.
A win at the 2026 Zurich Classic would give Alex Fitzpatrick a two-year PGA Tour exemption through 2028, along with entry into upcoming Signature Events tied to the victory.
For Matt, it would add another PGA Tour title one week after his win at the RBC Heritage. For Alex, it would change his status on tour.
Matt and Alex Fitzpatrick are set to tee off at 12:50 p.m. on Sunday for the final-round foursomes session, where alternate shot will decide the Zurich Classic.
