"Always Evolving": Nelly Korda Explains Why Her Game and Mindset Never Stay the Same

The scorecard of Nelly Korda had no bogeys on Friday at the Fortinet Founders Cup. It seemed a very clean round, but bring up the subject about mental process, and she'll wave off the idea that anything is ever truly locked in.
On March 21, at Sharon Heights Golf and Country Club in Menlo Park, California, Korda had just walked off the course when the question came her way. Had the process finally settled? She didn't think that was the right way to look at it.
"I think it's always evolving," Nelly Korda said. "You're always adapting, not just as a golfer but as a human being."
Eleven years as a pro, and she's still not calling herself a finished, perfect player. Tough weeks? She goes back to the same two things. Her love for the game and her reason for being out there.

"If you answer those questions and you really enjoy being out here, it's always fun," Nelly Korda said. "You always enjoy the ups and downs."
The course at Sharon Heights kept shifting all week. Wet and forgiving early on, then completely dried out by Friday. The ball started chasing, and old yardages stopped making sense, but Korda figured it out hole by hole and never dropped a shot, with the same instinct she carries everywhere, not just out on the fairways.
Nelly Korda’s Rest Philosophy Is Part of the Same Mindset
Six weeks away from competition between her last victory and this event had some wondering about her match sharpness, although Korda wasn't bothered.
"I've learned that if I don't take time off, that's going to catch up to me in the middle of the season," Nelly Korda said.
She made clear the break wasn't passive. She kept working on her game and her body throughout. In her view, the time away is what keeps the grind from becoming a burden.
"You want to have a fresh mindset," Nelly Korda added. "You don't want to be burnt out."
With Sunday's final round still to come, Korda is firmly in the mix for another title at the Fortinet Founders Cup.
