Tiger Woods' future in golf is once again in doubt. The legendary golfer was involved in a car crash in Florida on Friday, just days after returning to competition. The incident has drawn a blunt assessment from one of golf's top analysts.

Former professional golfer turned lead analyst for the Golf Channel, Brandel Chamblee, did not hold back and said during a Golf Channel broadcast on Saturday.

“He’s [Tiger Woods] done his work in the game of golf. Nothing he’s going to do on the Champions Tour, with all due respect, to senior golf, we all love it, but it will add nothing really to his legacy,” he said.

“And you know, it’s clear that since 2021, when he’s come back, he can’t play at a competitive level on the PGA Tour….” added Chamblee.

Since his car accident in February 2021, his participation on the PGA Tour has remained limited. Woods has followed a reduced schedule, appearing mainly in major championships and selected events.

After a gap of 508 days, Woods returned at The Masters in 2022 and finished 47th. In 2023, he again started at the Masters but withdrew during the third round.

The following year, he made the cut at the Masters and finished 60th, recording his 24th consecutive cut at Augusta. However, he missed the cut in the remaining majors that year.

Tiger Woods did not play any official PGA Tour events in 2025. He withdrew from the Genesis Invitational following his mother, Kultida's, passing. In March, he suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon, and seven months later underwent his seventh back surgery (lumbar disc replacement).

“His body just won’t let him do what his talents have previously let him do. That seems like the only circumstance that would alleviate this problem,” added Chamblee.

Brandel Chamblee wrapped up by saying, “Beyond that, you just hope that he gets the care and the help that he needs.”

Woods returned to competition on March 24 at the TGL finals after a break due to surgery. He played for Jupiter Links GC, but the team lost to the Los Angeles Golf Club. After the match, he said recovery has slowed compared to earlier years.

Three days later, on March 27, Woods was involved in a crash in Florida and was arrested on suspicion of DUI and property damage. Authorities reported no alcohol but indicated possible impairment from medication.

Before this, he had been preparing for The Masters. Now, his participation is uncertain.

He has also become eligible for the PGA Tour Champions and has registered for the U.S. Senior Open, though he has not confirmed if he will play.
