Andy Murray Explains Why Some of His Children's Names Are Missing From His Golf Clubs

Apr 25, 2026, 2:56 PM CUT

Andy Murray found a way to keep his kids close while playing golf. Their names were engraved on his wedges, but two of his children's names are now missing.

The retired tennis star accidentally revealed this on Friday during a live broadcast. In a clip shared by Sky Sports Golf, Murray explained that Callaway had engraved his children's names on his wedges without him asking.

"This is not something that I requested, but Callaway very kindly had engraved my kids' names into the wedges," Murray said. "I've got Sophia and Edie's on one of the other ones."

The interviewer noticed that two names were missing from the bag entirely.

"I made a change to my wedges, and yeah, they are now not in the bag," he said. "Which they didn't know until right now."

Murray and his wife, Kim Sears, share three daughters and a son: Sophia, Edie, Teddy, and their youngest daughter (reportedly named Lola). Murray did not say which two names were left out when the wedges were changed.

Carlos Alcaraz Warns Andy Murray He Is Coming for Him on the Golf Course

While the equipment mishap provided levity, Carlos Alcaraz warns that Murray remains a formidable opponent on the course.

The Spanish tennis star spoke about their ongoing golf rivalry on the Iguales podcast and did not hold back when describing Murray’s competitive style.

"No, no, I have to be honest. I could say we’re even…" said Alcaraz, as quoted by HITC.

"Andy's a b****, by the way! He really likes to mess with you!" Alcaraz said.

Their rivalry currently stands at 2-1 in Murray’s favor. Their most recent match was a doubles game in London.

"If we play a straightforward 1 vs 1, I get hammered," he said.

He also admitted the gap between them, saying, "I'll get there! And I'll beat him, but I can't yet."

Murray’s silent focus during their last match translated to a dominant performance. The score reflected the rest of the story.
