LPGA Star Reveals What It Takes to Win on a Tight Sunday Leaderboard

Feb 28, 2026, 6:13 PM CUT

Whether it’s making important putts or handling pressure, Angel Yin is honest about what it takes to win, and she showed it again.

On Friday, February 28, 2026, after the third round of the HSBC Women’s World Championship in Singapore, reporters asked Yin about winning with a close leaderboard. Her answer was simple, and she replied straightforwardly.

"Good golf and good luck," Yin said.

"Honestly, there's nothing much you can do to it."

The American golfer didn't hesitate to keep it real about what separates winners from everyone else on Sundays. She explained that skill alone won't always cut it when things get tight at the top.

Golf fans know that winning on Sunday often comes down to making the fewest mistakes under pressure. Yin added her own tip to this formula for success.

After three rounds, Yin is currently tied for 3rd with Hae-Ran Ryu. Although the first round didn't go as she wished, an 8-under 64 in the following round changed the momentum.

But Yin didn’t stop there. She also spoke honestly about an amazing up-and-down she made on Saturday at Sentosa Golf Club.

Angel Yin's Strong Play at Sentosa Golf Club

The LPGA star is playing very well after good results in Thailand and Singapore.

Yin has been hitting the ball well and putting even better in the last two rounds. She said her putting has improved the most, but good hitting has helped too.

Yin shared during her press conference, “That’s skill and luck to me. So get lucky and get good.”

"My putts will never go in if it's short," Yin said.

"I'm just going to have to believe in myself to be able to come back and make it."

Some of Yin’s aggressive putts went too far because the pin positions were tricky on Saturday. But she stayed calm, accepted it, and knows she has another day to compete.

Also, Yin talked about the hard work behind her good play. She said that without her physio this week, she couldn’t even walk. The physio has been helping her back, and that has made a big difference.
