Here's someone who's accomplished just about everything there is to accomplish in professional golf. Multiple majors. Countless victories. And still feels she's not consistent enough.
Well, she's got enough reasons to feel so, as this one event continues to slip through her fingers year after year, and she's running out of explanations.
But it gets worse. The tournament itself seems designed to expose her weaknesses. It's played in cold temperatures that make the course play longer.
Tough conditions that don't play to her strengths. It's like showing up to the same battle every year. And guess what? This year's forecast is calling for more of the same freezing weather that's tormented her in the past.
Anna Sorenstam's Brutal Admission About Running Out of Answers
Given that Sorenstam knows what she needs to improve her game, she said, "I have been practicing. I'm doing what I can. It's just not really much more I can do in the sense I don't have more time to put in and more time and energy to get my game to a different level."
That's not the talk of someone expecting to dominate. That's someone who's made peace with the fact that sometimes the best just isn't enough, no matter how badly you want it.
But will this be the year she finally puts it all together? Will something click at just the right moment and allow her to string together four solid rounds?
Only the future has the answers. Let us know what you feel.
