Anthony Kim appeared on the MrShort Game Golf Podcast talking about his return to sport and his LIV Golf experience.

Speaking candidly, Kim admitted he never had clarity about his LIV deal in the first place.

“It might have been a one-year deal. I don't know. Um, when I finally decided that I was going to play professional golf again, I didn't really care. I just wanted to get out there and start grinding."

As the LIV Golf came into existence in 2022, with opportunities for golfers. Kim also joined as a wild card player. The buzz settled early, and he struggled with a breakaway front.

However, Kim’s stint on the Saudi-backed LIV Golf Tour was brief and unproductive on paper. He failed to secure a single point during his time in the league and was relegated after he finished 55th. Even in 2024, he couldn't reach the top 25 and earned zero points.

That uncertainty, however, did not define his motivation. Kim explained that when he committed to returning to professional golf, the structure or status of tours was secondary.

“Regardless of that, whether I have to play the International Series or not, I feel really good about where my game’s headed,” Kim admitted. Once one of golf’s most electrifying talents, Kim’s comeback has been uneven, scrutinized, and often dismissed.

Is Anthony Kim's Future in Jeopardy

Anthony Kim’s future in professional golf might sound uncertain, but it's not over. After returning in early 2024 following a 12-year absence, Kim showed up to prove himself.

But this LIV setback puts his status in jeopardy for now. No LIV franchise has re-signed him yet, and his only clear route back into the league is through the LIV Promotions event for 2026.

Despite the pressure, Kim has openly stated that he has no plans to retire. As he said, "I am going to play some events (on the International Series and Asian Tour), but it is a long way over here.”
