As Bryson DeChambeau Reacts to Kai Trump’s LPGA Debut, Here Are All Their Past Encounters

"For the first day, I was definitely really nervous. I think the nerves just got to me." Kai Trump’s LPGA debut drew huge attention, and even though the 18-year-old struggled through a tough opening round and missed the cut, she knew how valuable the experience was. Now, one golf pro is praising her game!
Impressed by her composure and second-round recovery, Bryson DeChambeau, in an interview with Fox News Digital, said “She shot five-over the second round, which is really, it’s actually really impressive. We didn't know how she was going to do, she handled herself very well, and what a great opportunity."
And he's not alone in thinking so. Even Charlie Hull agreed, especially after Kai improved in Round 2. "That’s really good, considering this is not just an easy LPGA event, this is probably one of the harder courses that we play on."

That's why it's no surprise both DeChambeau and Annika Sorenstam were convinced by Kai's outing. "I was talking to [tournament host] Annika [Sorenstam]. She's a part of the council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition, and we were just talking about how, you know, ‘What do you think about it?’ We were both talking, and this is a great opportunity. She's like, 'There's plenty of others that have gotten invites that didn't do well, but it was a great experience for them. And I think it's going to be a great experience for her."
As someone who's known Kai Trump, DeChambeau knows what she's capable of. But for now, let's take a look at some of the times their paths crossed.
Tracing Every Fun, Candid Moment Kai & Bryson Shared So Far
Kai Trump and Bryson DeChambeau’s connection goes back a while, long before her LPGA debut drew headlines. Their earliest public moment came in December 2023, when Kai posted a clip saying she’d had “the best time” playing with Bryson, long-drive star Kyle Berkshire, and her grandfather, President Donald Trump.

Their paths crossed again in December 2024. Kai was filming a lighthearted Q&A with big names like Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, but her exchange with Bryson stood out. Teasing him about a past loss to Brooks Koepka, she asked how he felt now being on the same team. Bryson didn’t miss a beat: “He’s going to carry me the whole way to victory, clearly.”
On one occassion, during a joint challenge where Kai handed Bryson a ball, leading to the now-viral swing where his driver snapped on impact. The two laughed it off, an unplanned moment that became an inside joke rather than a serious mishap.
And perhaps their most telling interaction came when Kai and her friend Emma spotted him unexpectedly. Kai fan-girled immediately, “Bryson and Elon Musk, oh my God!” while Bryson jumped into the conversation with a joke of his own. “I’ll design a rocket-ship golf club for you,” he told Kai, “with boosters on the back to increase your swing speed.” Kai played along: “Just a tad. 320 coming your way.” Bryson nodded: “Just for you.”
Together, these moments show Kai as the young admirer and Bryson as the encouraging mentor. Their interactions feel natural, grounded, and built on genuine familiarity rather than hype.
