“I Did Nothing”: Bad Bunny Once Revealed His Honest Experience Acting in the Biggest Golf Movie

Feb 9, 2026, 4:54 PM CUT

Besides singing, Bad Bunny also entertained movie enthusiasts with his role in Happy Gilmore 2, and he didn't mince words while talking about his experiences during filming the movie.

The Latin singer made a number of admissions in an interview with Netflix while filming the Happy Gilmore sequel. He trusted the film crew to help him play Happy’s caddie primarily because of his lack of knowledge in the sport. The BTS clips show Bad Bunny enjoying his first big comedy role in various ways.

Bunny plays Oscar Mejias in the movie, a fired restaurant worker who becomes a golf caddie. However, during his backstage interview, he confessed, "I don't know s*** about golf." Oscar becomes Happy’s caddie without knowing anything about golf, which leads to plenty of funny moments.

Adam Sandler even had to explain basic golf rules to him on set, after which Bunny said, "I feel that I know him. That, like, he's my uncle or something."

Bunny also didn’t brag when he talked about how he looked in Happy Gilmore 2. Instead, he credited the "costume team" for his appearance, saying, "I did nothing. This was the costume team."

The role wasn’t in the original script. Bad Bunny kept trying to get Sandler’s attention after seeing him at a Lakers game. His agent kept pushing too, and once Sandler saw Bad Bunny host Saturday Night Live in 2024, he was impressed. Sandler and writer Tim Herlihy then created the role of Oscar Mejías just for him.

And the Happy Gilmore 2 team certainly wouldn't be regretting their decision to cast Bunny.

Bad Bunny’s Fame Helped Happy Gilmore 2 Smash Netflix Records

Bad Bunny’s fame played its role in making the movie a smash hit. Happy Gilmore 2 pulled in 46.7 million views in just three days after releasing on July 25, 2025, making it Netflix’s biggest U.S. film debut of the year.

Bad Bunny is continuing to ride the wave of success in 2026. Just days before his iconic Super Bowl halftime show on February 8, he had won Grammys, and looking back at Happy Gilmore 2, he has every reason to cherish the time he has had since the movie's release.

Not only that, this sequel features several other celebrities. Golfers Scottie Scheffler, Rory McIlroy, Bryson DeChambeau, and Jack Nicklaus, NFL star Travis Kelce, and a few more were also part of the cast.
