Bryson DeChambeau is a social media powerhouse. But at the Masters, he's embracing Augusta National's old-school, no-phone policy. He calls the unique atmosphere a 'bit of nostalgia,' giving him a bigger buzz than anywhere else.

Augusta's no-phone policy is one of the few things in professional golf that hasn't changed with the times. For DeChambeau, it gave him something he didn't expect to value as much as he does. 

"I do find a bit of nostalgia having people watch through their eyes rather than through a phone," he said on Wednesday. "There's more of this presence. I feel like there's a bigger buzz because of it."

When this comes from DeChambeau, that really stands out because he’s built a huge personal brand through YouTube and social media. Also, he knows how to use it better than most players.

So when he talks about a crowd that just watches, fully there, with nothing between them and the game, it says a lot. That’s what Augusta does to people.

He comes into the 2026 Masters playing really well. He won back-to-back LIV events in Singapore and South Africa in March 2026.

He has also finished in the top six in each of the last two Masters. And every time he plays at Augusta, his game just seems to get a little better. Also, this master's week, the golfer has brought a famous actor as a caddie to make things more entertaining.

Bryson DeChambeau's Augusta Week Had a Familiar Face on the Bag

Kevin Hart caddied for the 32-year-old on Wednesday. Before, the two made a YouTube video together last year, so it wasn't out of nowhere. The comedian actor had the crowd going, and DeChambeau was laughing along.

On Thursday, a different guy showed up. He'd already told reporters he tweaked the extra bounce on the 50 and 55-degree clubs. Augusta's turf around the greens has bitten him before. He'd rather fix it quietly than complain about it loudly.

Last year stings a little. Final group on Sunday, right in contention, and then Rory McIlroy just took it. Grand slam complete. DeChambeau had a front-row seat to all of it.

"The more I put myself in those positions, the better opportunities I'm going to have to win," he said. "I want to feel it again."

Ten trips to Augusta. Top six in the last two years. He's not here to make up the numbers anymore.
