"Boring" Golf: Hannah Green Explains the Simple Strategy Behind Her Triple-Win Run

Apr 19, 2026, 12:38 AM CUT

Hannah Green’s success in 2026 has become a part of history. The 29-year-old became the first Australian to win three consecutive international tournaments, and she recently revealed the strategy that led to this amazing feat.

The historic three-win streak took place in just 22 days this March. The 29-year-old earned victories in Singapore, Adelaide, and Queensland, which eventually crowned her as the Ladies European Tour Player of the Month for the month. Green appeared in a press conference on April 15, ahead of the JM Eagle LA Championship, where she disclosed how making golf "boring" helped her claim the victories.

She said, “Changed putters probably October last year. Put it in play right before we went to Asia, and I felt like that's been a big difference. Perhaps last year, my ball striking wasn't as good as it has been in the past. Definitely those three wins, the putter was very hot, but I was also able to hit a lot of greens in regulation, hit a lot of fairways, and try, and make golf as boring as possible.”

After winning the HSBC Women's World Championship by a one-stroke victory over Auston Kim, Green ended a 12-year drought for Australian golfers at the Women’s Australian Open. Her win at the Australian WPGA Championship was her most dominant performance in the streak, which she won by four strokes.

Currently, at the JM Eagle LA Championship, Green would definitely like to win the title for the third time. Her run of form has been extraordinary, and she will count on that for the victory.

Latest Updates About Hannah Green’s Run at the JM Eagle LA Championship

As of now, Green is holding the T7 position in the JM Eagle LA Championship leaderboard before heading into the final day.

During a press conference amid the tournament, the 29-year-old spoke about an advantage she carries, and hence, looked positive about finishing the tournament prestigiously. Green said, “I am hoping that I can putt well because I think that will be the difference to the person who wins this week.”

With a score of 8-under par, Green currently sits six strokes behind leader and World No. 10, Sei Young Kim. Following her opening-round 67, she carded a 3-under 69 in the second round on Friday.

Green has won the championship two times, but never at the El Caballero Country Club. Wilshire Country Club has been undergoing renovations, and hence, this venue was elected to host the JM Eagle LA Championship this year once more after 2025.

However, Green is not feeling out of place at this new venue. Speaking about the same, she said, "I just feel very comfortable when I'm back here in LA. Doesn't really matter if it's Wilshire [or Caballero]."

On Sunday, Green would want to push limits to reach the top of the leaderboard, overtaking Kim.

But do you think she will manage to overcome the six-stroke deficit in the final to win the event? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
