Brooks Koepka’s Career-Defining Moments to Remember as He Stays Tour-Less For Now

Jan 4, 2026, 6:49 PM CUT

After stepping away from LIV Golf on December 23, Brooks Koepka is in a 'tour-less phase,' and before Koepka starts his swings again in tournaments, let's look back at Koepka’s career-defining moments.

Brooks Koepka's major championship

Brooks Koepka won his first major championship at the 2017 U.S. Open at Erin Hills, finishing 16-under par and winning by four strokes.

Koepka and Tommy Fleetwood began the final round one shot behind the lead. Koepka made three birdies in his first eight holes, while Fleetwood followed a birdie on the second with three bogeys across the next six holes.

One year later, in 2018, Koepka won two major championships, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship.

At the 2018 PGA Championship, Koepka set a tournament scoring record with a 72-hole total of 264 (16-under par), which also tied the major championship scoring record at the time.

His total broke the previous PGA Championship record of 265 set by David Toms in 2001 and matched Henrik Stenson’s 264 from the 2016 Open Championship.

By winning both U.S. majors in the same year[2018], he became the fifth player in history to do so, joining Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods.

In 2019, Koepka won his second PGA Championship at Bethpage Black in Farmingdale, New York, and successfully defended the title.

With that win (PGA Championship 2019), he became the first player to hold back-to-back titles in two different majors at the same time, the U.S. Open and the PGA Championship.

Four years later, in 2023, Koepka won the PGA Championship, his third PGA Championship title and fifth major championship, and became the first LIV Golf player to win a major tournament.

Brooks Koepka's other victories

Other than majors, Koepka was also achieving results on the PGA Tour, including the 2019 WGC-FedEx St. Jude Invitational, which he won by three shots over Webb Simpson.

Koepka began the final round one shot behind Rory McIlroy, made a bogey-free 65 to finish at 16-under 264, and secured his seventh PGA Tour win and first WGC title.

Beyond major championships, Brooks Koepka also took part in exhibition and special-event matches, including “The Match” on November 26, 2021, at Wynn Golf Club in Las Vegas, where he defeated Bryson DeChambeau 4 and 3 in a 12-hole match-play charity event.

Koepka went 4-up with four holes remaining, and DeChambeau conceded on the ninth hole without winning a hole.

Brooks Koepka's LIV Golf wins

Koepka joined LIV Golf in 2022 and became the first player in LIV Golf history to reach five individual titles in August 2024.

As of late 2025, he ranks second on the all-time wins list with five victories, behind Joaquín Niemann, who has seven.

His first LIV win came in 2022 at the LIV Golf Invitational Jeddah in October. Next year, 2023, Koepka won LIV events in Orlando and Jeddah.

In 2024, Koepka added two more LIV Golf wins at Singapore and The Greenbrier, defeating Jon Rahm in a playoff at the latter event.
