Five-time major champion Brooks Koepka is standing on the edge of qualification for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. His latest withdrawal from this week’s Rocket Classic puts his chances further back.
Koepka is currently ranked 84th in the FedEx Cup standings. It's very likely that in his first season back from LIV, the 36-year-old will have to settle for a short season.
Koepka’s withdrawal was confirmed on Tuesday evening. It comes on the back of a personal reason, as confirmed by the PGA Tour. He will be replaced by Canadian pro Ben Silverman at Detroit Golf Club.

Last month, Koepka had to withdraw during the RBC Canadian Open due to an ulnar-nerve issue.
The former LIV man struggled in the third round and was forced to opt out ahead of the final day, as reported by Andy Roberts of GolfMagic.
Following that, Koepka faced a dip in his form, missing the cut at both the U.S. Open and Genesis Scottish Open.
The top-70 ranked players will make it into the FedEx St Jude Championship, which is the first of three playoff events.
Next week’s Wyndham Championship is Koepka’s last opportunity to climb up the ranks. Otherwise, his season ends then and there.
It has been a disappointing return to the PGA Tour for the former World No. 1. It has been just one top-10 finish for him all season, at the Cognizant Classic in March.
Australia's 13-time PGA Tour winner Jason Day also misses out on the Rocket Classic.
Jason Day withdraws from the Rocket Classic
Aussie pro Jason Day has now pulled out of two straight events. Back problems have always plagued his career, and they have again resurfaced this season.
On Monday, Day withdrew from the Rocket Classic due to the lingering back issue. He did the same for last week’s 3M Open, as per GolfMonthly.
At the U.S Open, the 2015 US PGA champion pulled out after just 10 holes at Shinnecock Hills. Since then, he has failed to find his groove.
Just like Koepka, Day is also in trouble to secure qualification for the FedEx Cup playoffs. He is currently ranked 74th in the standings.
With only two top-10 finishes this season, Day’s chances to qualify look bleak, but he still has next week’s Wyndham Championship to work his way through if he opts to feature in it.
