Bryson DeChambeau Enters AI Space With an Eight-Figure Deal After Parting Ways From His Former Sponsor

On April 7th, a group of investors led by U.S. Open winner Bryson DeChambeau announced their acquisition of Sportsbox AI.
A Seattle‑based sports tech startup, Sportsbox AI, is currently leading in kinematic AI technology and 3D motion capture for coaching and training across mobile sports and fitness applications.
It was founded by former LPGA Tour player Jeehae Lee and an experienced software engineer, Samuel Menaker. DeChambeau’s goal of driving impact and accessibility for golfers in AI training takes a huge step with this acquisition.
“Pushing the boundaries of data and technology has always been a huge part of how I approach the game, but this goes beyond performance," he said.
"With Sportsbox AI and Google Cloud, we're building something that brings real coaching to anyone with a smartphone, not just elite players. That's what gets me fired up.”

DeChambeau gave credit to SportsBox AI’s technology for the adjustments he made in his swing during his 2024 US Open victory. Later that year, he invested in the company as a backer of the startup, alongside Michelle Wie West and EP Golf Ventures.
“As a former player, I’ve always wanted to demystify the process around improving one’s game,” said Jeehae Lee, Sportsbox AI co-founder.
SAMI AI Assistant is at the centre of this announcement.
It understands and analyzes 3D biomechanical data to provide detailed, personalized instructions for golfers in just a few seconds. This would help golfers to improve different aspects of their game, especially their swing.
"Our work with Bryson proves that 3D motion data – when delivered via easy to understand insights and instructions – can provide real, positive outcomes for one’s mechanics. And now with SAMI, we’re accelerating that process in such a way that it can be utilized by every golfer and coach," Lee added.
DeChambeau announced that the SAMI AI Assistant is scheduled to come out later this year, marking the start of a new era.
Bryson DeChambeau's Decision Could Bring A New Era for Athletic Training
Bryson DeChambeau’s aim to create a pathway for predictive, data-driven optimization is reflected through the acquisition.
Athletes at every level would benefit from the increased accessibility to AI training.
Google Cloud and DeChambeau, together have set out to widen the limits of athletic performance. Moreover, Sportsbox AI will collaborate with Google Cloud to enhance user experience through the specialized use of AI.
However, DeChambeau's acquisition was not out of nowhere.
He was advised and guided by Steve Argeris, Nicholas Doloresco, and Joseph Erdos of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP and by Fortified Partners throughout the entire process.
Sportsbox AI, with DeChambeau as its stakeholder, will look forward to helping athletes to achieve their personal milestones through its real-time corrective feedback.
