LIV golfer Bryson DeChambeau's U.S. Open ended on Friday at Shinnecock Hills, marking the first time in his decade-long major career that he has missed three consecutive cuts at golf's biggest events.

DeChambeau shot a 5-over 75 in the second round to finish the tournament at 5 over par.

The score left him outside the cut line, with the afternoon wave still on the course. He has now missed the cut in all three major championships this season.

The 32-year-old declined media requests after the round. According to Paolo Uggetti's post on X, he did "reluctantly high-five some kids on his way off the course." NUCLR GOLF reported on X that Data Golf gave him just a 17.2% chance to make the cut before the projections turned final.

He missed the cut at the Masters in April and again at the PGA Championship in May.

Bryson DeChambeau was in a good position on the back nine, but he made a bogey on the par-3 17th after his tee shot went into a bunker and his next shot went past the pin.

On the 18th hole, he hit a huge 401-yard drive but left his approach shot 14 feet short and missed the birdie putt that could have helped his round.

In the second round, he ranked first in the field in strokes gained off the tee but just 140th in approach and 147th in putting. Despite opening with an even-par 70 on Thursday, he said afterward he was happy with the state of his game.

DeChambeau is a combined 18 over par in the majors this season and has not seriously contended in one since finishing runner-up to Scottie Scheffler at last year's PGA Championship.

Bryson DeChambeau's struggles come at a pivotal moment for his LIV future

Missing the cut adds to a difficult run for Bryson DeChambeau.

He has now missed the cut in four of his last five majors and six times since winning the 2024 U.S. Open.

DeChambeau has won the U.S. Open twice, first in 2020 and again in 2024. However, he has not been a serious contender in any of his last five major tournaments.

He has won twice on LIV Golf this season and had two top-five finishes in his last five events before the U.S. Open. His current LIV Golf contract will end after this season.

The circuit itself faces uncertainty. Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund confirmed in April that it will end its investment in LIV Golf after this season. LIV Golf CEO Scott O'Neil is working to secure $300 million in new funding to replace it.
