Bryson DeChambeau didn't need all 18 holes to make his point at LIV Golf South Africa. He proved it on the very first hole itself.

The Crushers GC player made an eagle on the very first hole on March 20. Jumping two shots ahead before the rest of the players, who were settled in. It was the kind of shot that spreads quickly on one of the biggest sports weekends of the year, and it did just that.

LIV Golf’s official account kept it simple on X: “Bryson is box office,” the tour posted on Thursday.

Bryson DeChambeau then went out and proved it over 18 holes and finished the day at eight under par, and was tied for the lead with Charles Howell III. The 32-year-old won in Singapore last week, and his game still looks very strong going into the week.

After the round, Bryson DeChambeau spoke about the bigger picture of the game.

“This is what LIV was supposed to be, and what it can be, not only here but in the States as well,” he said.

“I hope people can see the value we bring to the game of golf. It’s really great to see what LIV has become.”

What Bryson DeChambeau Showed in Singapore Before He Got to South Africa

Last Sunday at Sentosa Golf Club was not a walk in the park for him.

DeChambeau went into the final round of the Aramco LIV Golf Singapore on March 15 sitting one shot off the pace, dealt with a lengthy storm delay, and still somehow came out the other side with a 14-under total and a spot in a playoff against Richard T. Lee.

The playoff came down to one hole. Lee three-putted the par-five 18th from 10 feet, Bryson DeChambeau made par, and that was that. Fourth LIV Golf League title in the bag and his first win across four rounds since beating Rory McIlroy at the 2024 US Open at Pinehurst No. 2.

Nearly two years between 72-hole wins, and now he's leading again just five days later. Whatever was holding him back from stringing results together. It doesn't look like a problem anymore. South Africa is shaping up to be a long week for everyone behind him on that leaderboard.

Bryson DeChambeau has won in Singapore and is leading in South Africa. Is he the most in-form player in golf right now? Share your thoughts in the comments.
