Bryson DeChambeau’s Message to Asterisk Talley Says Everything After Augusta Heartbreak

A tough loss at Augusta brought an unlikely pair together. After a final-round collapse at the Women's Amateur, Asterisk Talley received a powerful message from a player who knows Augusta heartbreak all too well: Bryson DeChambeau.
DeChambeau, who lost the 2025 Masters on the final day, had a message for the 17-year-old. When she walked off the 18th green, DeChambeau hugged what he said helped her process the moment.
“He [Bryson DeChambeau] said, keep my head high. He said he's been in my position before, and he knows how it feels, especially here. He said you're a great player. It doesn't really matter.” Talley shared this during her Saturday press conference at the Augusta National Women’s Amateur.
Their connection goes back to when they trained with Mike Schy, and he recalled how she would say she would “do it” no matter what. He also told her that losses are where players learn, drawing from his own experiences, including at Augusta.

The 17-year-old entered the final day of the Augusta National Women’s Amateur with a one-shot lead. She had also gone 48 holes without a bogey, setting a mark in the event.
She held her position through the front nine, but the round shifted on the back nine. The turning point came at the 12th, where she made a quadruple-bogey seven after finding trouble around the green and in the water.
From there, she dropped shots over the closing stretch and signed for a 3-over 75. She finished the tournament at 8-under, in a tie for fourth place.
Asterisk Talley reflects on support and emotions after the round
“I’m just a little emotional, not only because I didn’t get it done today, but also just everyone is so supportive," Talley told the media.
It’s hard when they have to watch that and see you not do well or not accomplish what you wanted. I still played fine today even though that one hole just kind of got me,” she added.
10-time major champion Annika Sorenstam was among the first to speak with Asterisk Talley. She told her she was “the best player out here” and reminded her not to let the result stay with her.
After that, Talley met her family near the clubhouse and stood there for a while, gathering herself.
