While Bubba Watson admires President Donald Trump, there's one thing he would never let him do.

In 2018, Watson appeared in a TMZ Sports interview where he disclosed that he met Trump for the first time in 2006. He declared that he won't leave even a single inch of ground without a fight if they are in a head-to-head contest on a golf course.

"No, I would never let him win. If he beats me [despite my efforts], he beats me. [But letting him win?] No, not at all, because then I could tell everybody I beat the President."

Bubba Watson has two major championships and 12 PGA Tour wins, so he won't be easy. But Trump isn't an amateur either.

He disclosed that he had won 38 club championships. As he said back then, "I said, 'You know, I'm decades older than you but the fairway doesn't know how old you are,' as you walk up the middle and he's in the rough."

While they won't go against each other in an event, Watson and Trump did play together back in 2006. Trump also watched him play during the World Golf Championships-Cadillac Championship.

While Bubba Watson won't give an inch, he believes President Trump can do something important for golf

Watson is one of the many golfers who joined LIV Golf when they came calling. Wanting to play at the PNC Championship, he has wanted a unification of the PGA Tour and LIV Golf as soon as possible.

So, when President Trump got involved in the conversation earlier this year in February, Watson was all for it.

"It's a good move, and people are starting to come around. They see we are not there to hurt anybody. We are there to grow the game and we are doing it globally, so it is a great thing any time we can shake hands and hug it out."
