Back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy is one for the cameras. Being one of the most popular players on the PGA Tour, the Irishman is followed by cameramen all the time. However, at the Memorial, things went to the next level.

McIlroy is making his 14th appearance at the Jack Nicklaus event and is in search of his first title. On Friday, in an attempt to keep up with playing partner Justin Thomas, McIlroy decided to sprint followed by a funny incident.

As McIlroy dashed to the 17th hole to catch up with Thomas, a Golf Channel PGA Tour cameraman followed him, hitting full stride.

The crowd and commentators were in for a laugh as they watched the broadcasting personnel sprint with a significantly hefty camera on his right shoulder.

“Catch a breath” said one of the commentators.

Finally, McIlroy caught up with Thomas and began a conversation. The cameraman put on the brakes, and the scene came to an end.

The sprint was the only bright spot in a brutal second round for McIlroy. The 37-year-old ended Round 2 with a score of 2-over-par 74, leaving him 10 shots behind leader J.T. Poston.

McIlroy carded two birdies in the first five holes and was off to a good start. However, the six-time major champion struggled on the back nine.

A double bogey on the 13th hole and two consecutive bogeys on the 16th and 17th holes damaged his Memorial title hopes.

McIlroy was not alone in struggling Friday. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler was also tied for 19th alongside McIlroy.

Scottie Scheffler Comments On The Second Round At Memorial Tournament

Scottie Scheffler entered the tournament aiming to achieve a three-peat at Muirfield. At the end of the second round, both Scheffler and McIlroy sat at 1 over par.

"Overall it was a tough day, I felt I could have shot 90. I may be a lot of things but I'm not a quitter," Scheffler said.

The World No. 1 finished the second round with a level-par 72. After shooting three consecutive bogeys from the 8th to the 10th hole, Scheffler saved his round with three birdies on the back nine.

"That's maybe some of the worst I've hit it in a couple years out there and I still managed to shoot even par around a golf course that requires you to strike the ball really well," he added.

Currently 10 shots behind leader J.T. Poston, the back-to-back Memorial champion will look to find his rhythm at the course that has witnessed his dominance.
