Cameron Young Left Frustrated After Missed Chances at the Masters 2026

Cameron Young's shot at a green jacket unraveled on Sunday. A series of missed putts at the 2026 Masters left him frustrated and just two shots short of the win.
While he felt he played well enough, the scorecard told a different story. "There is no negative to take away other than obviously I would've loved a different result," Young said after the final round.
"But in terms of the golf, I played plenty well enough to win today and plenty well enough to win by a couple, I think,” Young added during the media interaction at Augusta on Sunday.
Cameron Young finished tied for third at the 2026 Masters Tournament at 10-under par (278). He entered the final round tied for the lead with Rory McIlroy but closed with a 1-over 73.
Through the week, his position changed round by round. He opened with a 73 and sat back early, then moved up with a 67 in the second round. After that, a 65 in the third round brought him into a share of the lead.
He took the lead early on Sunday, moving to 12-under with a birdie on the 2nd. Then the round shifted at the 9th, where a tee shot into the trees and a recovery from a divot led to a bogey.

“So just one of those days. If you go through the back nine, I pretty much had a birdie chance on every hole and didn't make any. That's how it goes sometimes,” added the two-time PGA Tour winner.
From there, the chances were there, but they did not convert. He hit fairways on the back nine and gave himself looks on multiple holes, including 12 through 15, but none of the putts dropped.
In the end, the 28-year-old finished two shots behind McIlroy, who secured the win.
Cameron Young Maintains His Approach Despite Missed Chances at The Masters
“It's just I don't feel like I hit any putts that I would've hit really differently. The only one, maybe, is 14. I hit a little too hard, but just watched Rory slow up pretty good. I really felt like I could roll it down the hill, and it wasn't that fast,” said Young.
The week's statistics paint a clearer picture of his performance in the final round. Cameron Young created chances on the back nine, especially across holes 12 to 15, but none converted, and the round closed at 1-over.
For the tournament, his putting average per green in regulation was 1.783, underlining a week where opportunities were created, but not all of them turned into scores.
Do you think Cameron Young did enough to win, or did the missed chances cost him the Masters?
