Two-time PGA Tour winner Cameron Young is tied for the lead at the Masters. But he knows who the Augusta crowd will be rooting for on Sunday.

“I don't get the sense I'll be the fan favorite,” said Cameron Young during the press conference of The Masters Tournament on Saturday.

Young enters the final round of the Tournament tied for the lead at 11-under par alongside defending champion Rory McIlroy. After starting Saturday eight strokes back, he closed the gap with a 7-under 65 to move into a share of the lead.

“But yeah, I feel like the support, some fans that cheer for me, have gotten louder over the last year. It will still be lopsided, I think. Rory's kind of a world favorite in the golf world,” added the 28-year-old.

Young made eight birdies and recorded one bogey, ending a stretch of 23 consecutive holes without a bogey before dropping a shot on the par-5 15th. He opened with a 73, followed with a 67, and then added the 65 in the third round to reach a total of 205.

Now, World No. 3 heads into Sunday in the final pairing with McIlroy, scheduled to tee off at 2:25 p.m. ET.

As he prepares for the closing round, Young will be chasing his first major title while also aiming to become the third consecutive player to have won both The Players Championship and the Masters in the same season.

Cameron Young on Growing Crowd Support Over the Past Year

“A year ago, if I'd been in the same situation, there would have been very little, and now there's probably a little more. So I'll take what I can get, and I'll be happy with that,” said the American.

That change can be traced to how his results and presence have developed over the past two seasons.

Young secured his first PGA Tour title at the Wyndham Championship in 2025 and followed it with another win at The Players Championship in 2026, where he closed out the event in the final stretch.

He was also part of the 2025 Ryder Cup as a captain’s pick and finished with a 3-1-0 record. However, his 2026 Masters run has been quite the comeback.

Cameron Young missed the cut in 2025 after carding 72 and 79. Before that, his best finish was still outside the top five. In fact, he was eight strokes behind McIlroy before the third round this year.

Now he's tied for the lead, with a genuine chance of winning the tournament. So, do you think Rory McIlroy will remain the crowd favorite on Sunday? Tell us in the comments.
