Cameron Young Reacts to Donald Trump’s Thumbs-Up After Cadillac Championship Victory

Doral made a comeback on the PGA Tour after a decade-long hiatus. PGA Tour’s Cameron Young expressed his gratitude toward Donald Trump after winning the Cadillac Championship.

Young put up a dominant performance at Blue Monster, winning by six shots. The wire-to-wire victory marked Young's second PGA Tour title of the season.

"It’s very unique. He's nothing if not a very, very interesting man. He's very powerful, and it's an honor to get to play in front of him. Hugely grateful to him and his family and his organization that has these beautiful properties and allows us to come and play great golf tournaments on them,” said Young.

Doral and its Blue Monster course were part of the PGA Tour schedule every year from 1962 to 2016, making it one of only nine venues to have been on the calendar for at least 50 years.

In August 2025, the PGA Tour announced its return to Doral. Young finished at 19-under par (269) and maintained control despite a self-imposed one-shot penalty.

“This is a special place and great championship golf course. I'm thankful to have it back on the schedule,” Young added.

He entered the final round with a six-shot lead, which the now World No. 3 held on to until the end. As a result, this win had the second-highest winning margin of the season, falling just behind Justin Rose’s Farmers Insurance Open victory by seven shots.

Young’s Penalty In The Final Round

In the final round, Young moved his golf ball on the par-4 second hole while grounding his club. With no one to spot it, it was Young himself who notified officials of the mistake.

"It's just one of those, your heart sinks when you see it move, but it moved, and that's part of what golf's about,” Young said.

Young admitted that there was no one else to give him a penalty except himself. He also pointed out that he had committed the same mishap four times now and needed to be more careful with “setting the club down.”

However, even with the one-shot penalty, the 28-year-old was able to save par and keep his momentum going, eventually lifting the Cadillac Championship at Doral.
