Anna Huang just rewrote the Ladies European Tour record books in Morocco. The 17-year-old Canadian erased a six-stroke deficit to secure her place in golf history.
Huang won the Lalla Meryem Cup on Saturday with a final-round 7-under 66 at Royal Golf Dar Es Salam, finishing one shot ahead of Australia's Kelsey Bennett. The victory gave her a third Ladies European Tour title and broke Lydia Ko’s long-standing record as the youngest player to reach that mark, according to Golf Monthly.
"I'm honestly just so shocked right now," Huang told the LET after the win. "To get my third win on tour in only my second year is incredible. I'm just trying to enjoy the moment."
The record she broke had stood since 2015. Ko was 17 years, 10 months, and five days old when she claimed her third LET title that year. Huang was 17 years, six months, and 24 days old on Saturday, around four months younger.
Huang came from six shots back in the final round, birdieing the first, eagling the second, and adding four straight birdies from the fifth through eighth holes to get within one shot of Bennett.
A bogey on the ninth hole briefly slowed Huang. Bennett increased her lead to three shots around the turn.
But Bennett made three bogeys on the back nine, including one on the final hole. Huang’s only back-nine birdie, on the 14th hole, was enough to win.
Huang finished at 14-under, and Bennett could not catch her.
Anna Huang Became an LET Record-Breaker After Q-School
Huang earned her Ladies European Tour card after finishing tied for 29th at Q-School in December 2024. Less than two months before turning 17, she won her first LET event, the La Sella Open in Spain.
The win made her the first Canadian golfer since Brooke Henderson to win on the LET. She also became the fourth-youngest winner in LET history.
One week later, she won the Lacoste Ladies Open de France, becoming the first Canadian with multiple LET wins. Now, a third title in Morocco has erased Ko's record.
"I got a little nervous on the back nine," Huang said. "I mean, everyone would. But I just kept playing my own game."
After the win, she moved to third on the LET Order of Merit. She has also qualified for the U.S. Women's Open for the second time and finished T3 at the Amundi German Masters last week. The U.S. Women's Open is next.
