With the end of the AIG Women’s Open, the qualification campaign for the Solheim Cup came to an end. Eight players racked up the automatic spots for the 2026 European Solheim Cup Team, as Germany’s Esther Henseleit narrowly secured a spot.

The top two players in the European Solheim Cup points list qualify, and England’s Charley Hull will be there. She secured the top spot on the LET Solheim Cup Points list.

"I can't believe I've qualified for my eighth Solheim Cup. I'm very proud to represent Team Europe again in front of the home fans in the Netherlands,” said Hull.  

Hull topped the charts with 264.18 points. It came on the back of her two victories in the Qualifying Period. She has an impressive record in the biennial event, scoring 16.5 points in her 27 matches. 

Following her in the standings is Henseleit, who secured 134 points. She claimed the final spot by her runner-up finish at the AIG Women’s Open. It was a close call as she edged Switzerland’s Chiara Tamburlini by 0.9 points.  

“I’m really happy to be part of the European Solheim Cup Team again,” said Henseleit, as per the LPGA's report. “It was a great experience last time out in the U.S. but I’m very excited to be in the team on European soil."

The remaining six qualified via the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings. England’s Lottie Woad led that chart. As a result, she will now be making her Solheim Cup debut at 22.

Celine Boutier, Carlota Ciganda, Maja Stark, Linn Grant and Nanna Koerstz Madsen also qualified via the Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings.

They are headed to the Solheim Cup to be held at Bernardus Golf from 11-13 September.

What the Qualifiers Said

Lottie Woad is the sole debutant as five are returning and two are new to European soil.

It will be the third appearance for Sweden’s Maja Stark and Linn Grant. As for France’s Celine Boutier, she will feature for the fifth time.

Interestingly, Spain’s Carlota Ciganda has appeared in every edition since 2013. She isn’t going to be missing the upcoming one.

"I love the Solheim Cup,” said Ciganda, as per the LPGA Tour. “It's my favourite event, and I can't wait to be back in European colours in front of the European fans."

Denmark’s Nanna Koerstz Madsen will be on European soil for her second appearance overall. She was part of the 2021 winning team in the US.

"There is no bigger honour than representing Europe in the Solheim Cup, and I'm excited to make my second appearance for Team Europe,” said Madsen. 

Now, European Solheim Cup Team captain Anna Nordqvist will make her four captain’s picks on Monday to complete the team.
