The U.S Amateur qualifier was a heartbreaking one for Charlie Woods. The 17-year-old missed out on a spot at the prestigious championship.
On Wednesday, Woods teed off at the Scarlet Course at Ohio State University Golf Club for the 18-hole qualifier. He left the course with loads of disappointment.
Finishing at five-over-par 76 was not enough for the youngster. He fell short of qualification by six shots. The top 13 players, plus two alternates, made it to the big stage.

Woods never looked in contention to secure a spot. Six bogeys and a double bogey left him behind as he finished tied for 57th.
The 17-year-old arrived with a lot of confidence after having secured a spot at the U.S. Junior Amateur. It came on the back of a playoff at the qualifier last month at Heathrow Country Club in Florida, as reported by GolfMagic.
It was a much better performance than what he put up on Wednesday. A three-under-par 68 meant he would tee off at Saucon Valley a few days later.
The US Amateur qualifier did not end up in his favour.
Recently, the Golf NIL rankings came out, and Woods was at the top of them.
Charlie Woods holds the top position in the Golf NIL Rankings
The Golf NIL Top 10 lists the highest-valued amateur golfers across Golf NIL’s four ranking boards. A player’s visibility, performance, and brand activity determine their position. No one comes close to Charlie Woods in this criterion.
With a valuation of $3 million, Woods sits at the top of the Golf NIL rankings. Interestingly, it is the highest recorded valuation since the inception of the list in 2024.
Woods boasts an enormous social media following on Instagram, and his reach is unmatched. In fact, Florida State’s regular-season schedule is highly followed because of his presence.
Regardless of the poor run of form this season, Woods continues to be one of the most valuable names in amateur golf.
