Charlie Woods Signals His Next Chapter With College Golf Commitment

With a last name tied to history and expectation, Charlie Woods is stepping out of his father’s footsteps.
Charlie Woods shared the news on Tuesday via Instagram, writing, “Excited to announce my commitment to play golf at Florida State University, go Noles!”
After Charlie Woods announced his commitment to Florida State, Tiger Woods responded with a message of support.
Fifteen-time major winner wrote, “Congratulations, Charlie. I’m so proud of you on entering this next chapter of your life.”
Charlie chose Florida State as his next step. In doing so, he passed on Stanford University, where his father played and where his sister Sam studies.
Florida State’s golf program continues to build its standing under head coach Trey Jones. In 2024, the Seminoles finished as national runner-up at the NCAA Championship, reinforcing their position among the top collegiate teams.
Over the years, the program has produced players who advanced to the PGA Tour, including Brooks Koepka, Daniel Berger, and Luke Clanton.
With that choice, Charlie becomes part of Florida State’s 2027 class, joining Miles Russell, the current No. 1-ranked junior golfer in the world.
Charlie Woods Builds With Junior Wins and Breakthrough Moment
Charlie Woods currently sits at No. 21 in the Rolex AJGA Rankings, marking his rise within junior golf. In May 2025, he claimed his first AJGA win at the Team TaylorMade Invitational, finishing at 15-under.
Later in the year, he played a key role in The Benjamin School’s Florida FHSAA Class 1A state title run, recording a 4-under 68 in the final round.
He then tied for ninth at the Boys Junior PGA Championship in July 2025 and followed that with a tie for 19th at the Junior Orange Bowl International in January 2026.
Alongside his junior schedule, he continued competing with Tiger Woods at the PNC Championship, where they finished second in 2024.
During the final round at the 2024 PNC Championship, Charlie recorded the first hole-in-one of his career, acing the 176-yard par-3 fourth hole with a 7-iron.
The playoff took place on the par-5 18th, where Bernhard Langer made an eagle putt to decide the title.
What do you think, did Charlie Woods make the right call with Florida State over Stanford?
