"Chips It Like Tiger or Phil": Donald Trump's Golfing Skills Once Got a Verdict From John Daly

John Daly appeared on Tucker Carlson Show on December 13, 2023, and during the discussion, he addressed one thing about President Donald Trump that impressed him.

“I got to work with his [Donald Trump] chipping a little bit. He hits it good, he putts it good, we just have to work on his chipping... If I don’t see him for a while, he goes back to that bad habit again. When you correct him, he chips it like a beast, like Tiger or Phil.”

On August 14, 2019, John Daly played a round of golf with Donald Trump at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. Daly and Trump played after the former visited the Oval Office.

“He [Trump] can hit it. We gotta work on his short game a little bit. But he hits his driver and his 3-wood absolutely perfect. He doesn't miss many fairways. We do need to work on his chipping and putting a little bit.”

President Trump once revealed, he's a low handicap on the course, having won 38 club championships, one of them even against a 27-year-old.

As he once explained, "For me and millions of people, men, women, young and old around the world, golf is more than a game. It is a passion."

But did Daly have more pointers to give President Trump?

John Daly talked about a what-if coaching role

In the same interview, Daly was also asked if he would have liked to be President Trump's full-time golf coach.

"I don't think he has the time to play as much golf. He loves it. He's passionate about it. What I love about him, he plays quick. We go out and play golf and we can be done in three hours."

It's no secret Daly admires Trump. And while he won't get to coach the President, we could see them play together once more.
