US President Donald Trump's latest win at Bedminster has drawn fire from an unlikely source: a member of his own club. Co-founder of The American Conservative, Scott McConnell, has seen him play and does not think the 80-year-old is capable of such a feat.

Trump won both the club and senior championships at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster. McConnell couldn’t wrap his head around the U.S President’s achievement.

“Trump is legit a pretty good amateur golfer. I'm a member of one of his clubs, so I've seen him play many times. He probably was a 4 or 5 in his prime,” McConnell wrote on X. “He's 80, and drives it about 180 yards now. No one like that can win a senior club championship in any universe.”

According to reports, Trump shot a 2-under-par score of 70 in New Jersey to seal both trophies. That result took his win tally to 40th across his various golf properties.

According to Golf Handicap Information Network, Donald Trump has a handicap of 2.8. However, McConnell completely denied that in his X post. Trump’s win was controversial, as per the American journalist.

Despite the scrutiny, Trump remained in high spirits after the win.

"I won with a score of 70, and am so honored in that, unlike the rest of the field, I'm given very little time to practice, because I'm focused on many other things. It's called TALENT, and I have it, and they don't!" wrote Trump on his Truth Social handle.

The US President was filmed being applauded by the crowd in Bedminster. His golfing record remains in question.

PGA professional Craig Normansell also questioned Trump’s win record.

PGA professional and level 2 certified Trackman Instructor Craig Normansell believed Trump’s game has its flaws. According to him, the win tally to 40 is questionable.

"He can clearly step up to a ball and strike it, but when it comes to the short game, he looks like he's going to be found out sooner or later," Normansell told William Vaillancourt of the Daily Beast. "It certainly doesn't look like the level of someone who's won 18 club championships."

However, two-time major champion Bryson DeChambeau came out and praised the 80-year-old’s game.

"He's actually a really good golfer," DeChambeau said, per USA Today. "He stripes it down the middle of the fairway and has a good iron game and putts it pretty well."

While the debate over his golfing record continues, Trump undoubtedly remains unfazed and is constantly racking up wins.
