European legend Dame Laura Davies gave the best possible ending to Team Europe’s Solheim Cup victory. The veteran brought in beers on the team bus, and the winning squad was left hyped up.

In dramatic fashion, Team Europe defeated Team USA 15 - 13  in the 20th edition of the Solheim Cup. Davies, who has been alongside the squad throughout at Bernardus, had some celebrations up her sleeve.

“Is anyone thirsty?!” Davies shouted.

A collective “Yeah!” followed from the European squad. The players were elated as they were handed out bottles from the four-time Solheim Cup winner.

Following that, Team Europe broke into a chant which was directed towards their opponent. The squad was not shy in their celebrations.

“We drink on Sunday! They drink on Saturday!” Team Europe chanted, as seen on Solheim Cup Team Europe's X post.

This comes on the back of Team USA’s beer celebrations after winning the Saturday fourballs session 3-1. They had tied the score at 8-8 before the final day.

As it turned out, Team USA’s celebration was a bit premature. The European side got the last laugh as they reclaimed the Solheim Cup for the first time since 2023.

Davies was at the heart of the celebrations, being a European legend herself. However, she has never captained the side and recently revealed the reason why.

The Legend who never wanted the captain's armband

Dame Laura Davies had all the credentials to be a solid captain for Team Europe. However, she was never excited about that prospect.

“When the time came that I maybe could have done it, I was still trying to play,” Davies said, as reported by Bunkered's Josh Lees. “But I just never really got excited about being the captain. The captaincy is the one role I’m not that bothered about.”

Davies appeared at 12 Solheim Cups, including the inaugural edition in 1990. She won four times in 1992, 2000, 2003 and also at her last appearance in 2011.

A captaincy role comes with a lot of responsibility off the course, but Davies’ focus was on her playing career.

As a result, the European legend never returned as a captain, despite being vice-captain four times.
