“Didn’t Know If You’d Come Home…”: Tiger Woods’s Daughter’s Once Shared Words That Still Hit Hard

Mar 31, 2026, 6:55 PM CUT

“About a year ago, you were stuck in your hospital bed at one of your ultimate lows, at one of the scariest moments of your life and ours. We didn’t know if you’d come home with two legs or not.”

Sam Woods’ words have resurfaced on the internet after her father’s recent accident. Her speech at Tiger Woods’ induction ceremony into the Hall of Fame was a reflection of Woods’ persistence in making a comeback from his previous accident in 2021.

Woods’ daughter, Sam, had mentioned his previous accident in 2022. “Now, not only are you being inducted into the Hall of Fame, but you're standing here on your own two feet.”

The 2021 accident took a toll on Woods’ family, especially his children Sam and Charlie.

This time around, Woods seems to have been fortunate in not adding to his surgery woes, making those words hit differently now.

On the 27th of March, Tiger Woods was involved in a car crash near his family’s home in Jupiter Island, Florida. Woods reportedly tried to overtake a truck, but his SUV clipped it and overturned, leading to the accident.

As things stand, Woods has managed to get away with no significant injuries from the accident.

The accident happened around 2 PM on a residential road near his house. Fortunately, he was able to exit the vehicle through the passenger side with help from pedestrians.

"Woods stated he was looking down at his cell phone and changing the radio station and did not notice the vehicle in front of him slowing down," deputies at the police station noted in the affidavit.

Is Masters still a possibility?

Before the accident, Tiger Woods was set to participate at this year’s The Masters. Now it is highly uncertain.

Even though Woods has done the unthinkable multiple times, he is still recovering from the lumbar disc replacement surgery, which he had in October 2025.

He also suffered from a ruptured Achilles tendon, which took him out of the Masters last year.

“As I said, I’ve been trying. Just this body is — it doesn’t recover like it did when it was 24, 25,” he said. “It doesn’t mean I’m not trying. I’ve been trying for a while.”

He added, “I’ve had a couple of bad injuries over the past years that I’ve had to fight through, and it’s taken some time. But I keep trying. I want to play. I love the tournament.”

Woods was optimistic when asked about his return to the Masters. However, this latest crash will certainly impact his decision.
