“Didn’t Sign Up to Play...”: Bryson DeChambeau Doesn’t Hold Back on LIV Golf Changes

Bryson DeChambeau is questioning his future with LIV Golf.
When LIV confirmed the move to a 72-hole format in a November press release, DeChambeau echoed the league’s position, saying the change aligned the tour with the format used across global professional golf.
However, when Today's Golfer spoke with him on Feb 2 and asked about the offseason changes, DeChambeau struck a different note.
“Hopefully, it weighs positively on me over the course of time, but you never know. I’m not sure. We didn’t sign up to play for 72.”

LIV Golf began with a 54-hole, three-round structure. This season, it shifted to a 72-hole, four-day setup.
The change is intended to bring the league closer to the format used by other international tours and to support its pursuit of world ranking recognition.
Bryson DeChambeau said the direction had shifted from what players were originally told to expect. As a result, questions began to surface about why that change occurred, especially since the initial plan had been presented differently.
That shift, he noted, led to new discussions among players. He added that his contract runs through this year and that future decisions would come later.
DeChambeau has repeated the line, “I’m under contract this year. After that, come what may,” over the past six weeks. This time, his comments on the format change were more direct than before.
Apart from competition, Bryson DeChambeau has developed a platform that operates on a different stage.

Away from the course, Bryson DeChambeau runs a YouTube channel with close to 2.6 million subscribers.
Over the years, he has appeared in 246 videos featuring guests such as John Daly, Steph Curry, and Donald Trump.
Recently, DeChambeau said that focusing on YouTube full-time while entering majors through exemptions is, in his view, a workable path.
