On December 12, 2025, Michael Brennan and Charley Hull teed it up together for the first time at the Grant Thornton Invitational at Tiburón Golf Club in Naples. What began as a late-forming partnership quickly turned into one of the most efficient pairings of the week.

Michael Brennan filled in for Daniel Berger, who was originally set to partner with Charley Hull. Playing in a team format, Brennan admitted he felt early nerves, saying he “didn’t want to let Charley down.”

Before the pair went on to set a new in Competing in Friday’s scramble format 18-hole scramble record

The duo secured birdie or eagle on 13 consecutive holes before settling for pars on the 16th and 18th. Hull and Brennan finished with a 17-under 55, breaking the previous 18-hole scoring record at the mixed-team event by one stroke.

“I feel like our games gelled really well,” Hull said in conversation with Ten Golf.

The test intensified on Saturday as the tournament shifted to alternate shot, a format in which players take turns hitting the same ball, alternating strokes until the hole is completed.

Hull and Brennan faced a sterner test during Saturday’s second round of the Grant Thornton Invitational, navigating the alternate-shot format. One such moment came on the 17th hole, when Hull encouraged an aggressive recovery from the pine straw, but Brennan chose a safer option, opting to pitch back into the fairway.

The duo carded a 1-under 71, mixing four birdies with three bogeys, to remain firmly in contention. At 18-under overall, Hull and Brennan sit second heading into the final round, one shot off the lead, with the format set to shift to modified four-ball on Sunday.
