Golf fans were angry on Sunday because CBS was showing the Masters final round but kept missing big moments of the world No. 1.
On a crucial day for the tournament, the coverage felt disjointed. Scottie Scheffler, the world’s No. 1 player, had a birdie putt on hole 2, and fans were expecting to see it, but CBS didn’t show it.
The complaints came fast. Many people went on X and started sharing their thoughts. The broadcast was about 8 minutes behind, and key shots were missing.
Some holes were shown later, after the players had already moved on.
Golf commentator Tron Carter said what everyone was thinking. "I'm all for establishing a narrative and showing shots on tape, but the broadcast is like 8 minutes behind on Scottie and Burns. It's wild."
He posted again right after they skipped the player. "Wait, they just totally skipped Scheffler's birdie putt on 2? Really?!"
The Masters has long faced criticism for its tightly controlled broadcast, with Augusta National Golf Club heavily shaping coverage and often limiting live action. CBS has also been criticized in the past for delayed feeds and selective coverage, so Sunday’s issues felt familiar rather than surprising.
The outrage began when a key birdie putt from the world's best player on golf's biggest day didn't make the broadcast.

People didn't hold back, and one fan got straight to it on X, saying, "Shockingly bad start for CBS today." The fan's frustration was clear.
Someone else thought they had the wrong channel on. "Is this the Golf Pass broadcast? Glad we got that shot of Hollywood GC…" Augusta National on Masters Sunday, and the cameras were in Northern Ireland.
Another post highlighted a different, equally frustrating issue. "Henley had already birdied 4 before they even showed his tee shot."
Entire holes were missed.
Viewers, from casual fans to weekly enthusiasts, were left disappointed by the broadcast.
As of now, neither CBS nor Augusta National Golf Club has publicly addressed the fan backlash, and that lack of response is pretty typical for this tournament.
