5 Golfers who are expected to perform well at the FedEx Championships

World No. 1 Scheffler's 68.7 scoring average could make history this weekend, or it could be World No. 2 Rory McIlroy adding to his legacy.
The FedEx St. Jude Championship marks the first cut of the FedExCup Playoffs, with the field trimmed from 70 to 50 heading into the BMW Championship.
While some players will look to forge their way into the top 50, others will be looking for a decent end to their season.
Here are the five golfers most likely to put on a dominant show at the FedEx St. Jude Championship, as per PGA Tour's Paul Hodowanic.
5. Michael Brennan
The latest PGA Tour winner, Michael Brennan, will be aiming for two straight wins. He secured his second PGA Tour title, the Wyndham Championship, on Sunday by three strokes and comes in with good momentum.
Only his putting is on the downside as he ranks 94th on tour this season, with an average of -0.017.
4. Jackson Koivun
PGA Tour rookie Jackson Koivun has taken the Tour by storm. In just five pro starts, he clinched the final qualifying spot for the FedExCup playoffs.
Koivun is coming in hot form after securing his first PGA Tour title, the 3M Open last month. It won’t be a surprise if he performs well at his first FedExCup playoff appearance.
3. Alex Fitzpatrick
Another top contender would be 27-year-old Alex Fitzpatrick. This season he has racked up his first PGA Tour title, the Zurich Classic of New Orleans in April, alongside his brother, Matt Fitzpatrick.
In just 11 starts, Fitzpatrick has made it into the Playoffs. He’ll be the one to look out for over this week.
2. Rory McIlroy
World No. 2 Rory McIlroy is in this year’s field after facing backlash for withdrawing last year. The Irishman has one win to his name this season, which came in iconic fashion at Augusta. He’ll be fighting for another in Tennessee.
McIlroy has three FedEx Cup titles to his name, the most in the championship's history. With a strong finish at TPC Southwind, he can be on his way to extend the record.
1. Scottie Scheffler
Unsurprisingly, Scheffler enters as the favorite, though his season has defied his usual dominance.

Just one win at the American Express in January, which has been followed by five runner-up finishes over the course of the season. It has been a disappointing season, considering he won six times last year.
Scheffler can put the disappointing run to bed with a win at TPC Southwind. Currently having a 68.7 average, he could very well become the only player to finish the season with a scoring average below 69.
South Korea’s Sungjae Im deserves an honorable mention. The 28-year-old has astonishingly never missed out on the TOUR Championship in his career. Ranked 53rd, he’ll require at least a two-way T24 result to keep the streak alive.
Top 50 advance to the BMW Championship; top 30 reach the TOUR Championship. A lot is at stake this week at Memphis.
