Winning the week before a major uplifts a player's mindset, but for Celine Boutier, Sunday's result in New Jersey just answered a question she has been waiting to answer for nearly three years.
The 32-year-old French player came from four shots down to win the ShopRite LPGA powered by Wakefern at Seaview Hotel & Golf Club's Bay Course in Galloway, New Jersey. She shot a final-round 66 to edge Thailand's Arpichaya Yubol by one shot. Ireland's Lauren Walsh finished third. It was Boutier's seventh career LPGA title and her second at this event.
Asked at her post-round press conference how the win would shape her mindset for next week's U.S. Women's Open at Riviera Country Club, Boutier said, "I think it's definitely always good to come back after a win. It's going to be a very different challenge for sure, with different course conditions. But I'm excited to see what the course is going to be like."

The win ended a drought of nearly 1,000 days since her last LPGA title. A tie for ninth had been her best result in 10 starts this season. "I feel like my game has turned around the last few weeks," she told reporters. "I could see it coming together, and I definitely did not expect it to come together this week and today. But I'm super excited to be back in the winner's circle."
Boutier started Sunday four shots behind 22-year-old South Korean Soo Bin Joo.
She birdied the 10th hole, hitting her approach shot to four feet. She then made back-to-back birdies to end the front nine and reached seven under.
On the 13th hole, she made a 30-foot birdie putt to take the lead. On the 14th hole, she made another 35-foot putt. “I definitely felt like that putt gave me a little bit of momentum. And a lot of confidence for the last few holes,” she said.
However, her journey to the top of the leaderboard in the tournament wasn't an easy one.

Sunday’s final round at Seaview’s Bay Course started with Soo Bin Joo in control, but she could not hold her lead.
Joo had a four-shot lead at the start of the round, but she slowly gave it away. A bogey on the par-4 eighth hole allowed Boutier to tie for the lead.
On the 13th hole, Joo missed the fairway and ended up in a rough, uneven lie. Her first shot was short. Her next wedge shot went over the green. Then she chipped the ball eight feet past the hole and missed the putt.
She made a double bogey and lost three shots on just one hole.
Boutier, meanwhile, kept the card clean. "I was just focused on what I was doing," she said. "I just didn't really pay too much attention to the leaderboard throughout my round."
Yubol finished strong by making birdies on the last two holes. She scored a 66 and finished second. This was her second time finishing in second place this season.
Walsh shot a 67 in the final round and finished third. Leona Maguire finished tied for ninth place. Ireland had two players in the top 10.
Boutier finished the 54-hole event at nine under par. With this win, her name is now listed with Annika Sorenstam, Juli Inkster, and Betsy King. They are all multiple winners at one of the LPGA Tour’s oldest events.
So, do you think Boutier can carry this form into Riviera and contend for the U.S. Women's Open title? Let us know in the comments.
