The Crushers grabbed attention for about 30 seconds with their player, Bryson DeChambeau.

The Crushers GC, part of LIV Golf, posted on X what looked like a major announcement about DeChambeau, mentioning “emergency board meetings” and “emotional decisions.”

But then came the twist. It was all for April Fools’ Day. They fully committed to the bit.

"We regret to inform you that after extensive internal discussion, multiple emergency board meetings, and what can only be described as a highly emotional decision-making process, the Crushers have come to a shocking conclusion," the team posted on X.

“We’re going to be fully locked in and extremely excited watching Bryson at the Masters,” the statement said, before signing off with, “Happy April Fools.”

The reaction was fairly quiet. Broadcaster Chick Hernandez replied dryly, “Wow… you really got us?” One fan, MIDWEST, initially called it a miss, but quickly flipped and started hyping DeChambeau, saying he’s “on a HEATER.” Fair enough, he kind of is.

If you ignore the joke, the Crushers’ confidence makes sense. DeChambeau won in Singapore and then in South Africa in back-to-back weeks in March. Two tournaments, two continents, two wins.

He has also played well at Augusta recently, finishing inside the top six in each of the last two years, including a tie for fifth in 2025. In 2024, he had a strong season, winning his second U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 and finishing second at the PGA Championship. This will be his 10th appearance at the Masters, and he looks more dangerous than ever.

He first played at Augusta in 2016 as an amateur and finished as Low Amateur.

The Crushers’ April Fools’ joke didn’t fool many people, but their belief in DeChambeau for the Masters this week is being taken seriously.
