Brooks Koepka says his game is rounding into form ahead of the Masters. The five-time major winner feels good about his ball-striking. But he admits one crucial piece is still missing before he can contend at Augusta.

Five-time major winner Brooks Koepka began the 2026 season with a return to the PGA Tour as a reinstated member in January. Since then, he has recorded three top-20 finishes: T9 at the Cognizant Classic, T13 at The Players Championship, and T18 at the Valspar Championship

Speaking at the Texas Children’s Houston Open press conference on Monday, he said his game is trending in the right direction:

"The game feels good. Everything's trending in a nice direction. Ball-striking feels really, really good. Pete's done a phenomenal job just getting everything where it needs to be,” he said.

However, Koepka noted that one element is still missing. “The only thing is, I really haven't put myself in contention with nine holes to go. That's really the last missing piece that I feel like I need to accomplish here before Augusta."

That position with nine holes remaining is something he has faced before at the Masters Tournament. In 2023, Brooks Koepka entered the final round with a two-shot lead over Jon Rahm but lost it on the front nine after bogeys on the 4th, 6th, and 9th.

By the time he reached the final nine holes, Rahm had moved ahead. Koepka dropped further back after a bogey on the 12th, before birdies on the 13th and 16th brought him back into second place. He closed with a 75 and finished tied for second, four shots behind Rahm.

That stretch reflects what he is pointing to now, being in position with nine holes left and carrying it through to the finish.

Brooks Koepka is ready ahead of the Masters Tournament

While Brooks Koepka still has concerns about his position with nine holes remaining, he says, “Yeah, I do feel like it is ready."

Brooks Koepka’s confidence comes from the work he has put in with coach Pete Cowen in the weeks leading up to Augusta.

After ending his association with Claude Harmon III in 2025, Koepka shifted his setup, with Cowen and putting coach Jeff Pierce taking over across all areas of his game.

Since then, the focus has been on his swing delivery and ball-striking. Koepka said Cowen helped address issues that had affected his driving and scoring in earlier starts.

That work has paid off, sharpening his approach to play and making him a leader on tour in that category.

So can Brooks Koepka turn his form into a win at the Masters? Let us know what you think in the comments.
