The 13-time PGA TOUR winner, Jordan Spieth, spoke after the Sony Open in Hawaii in a post-round interview with ASAP Sports, where he discussed his game and what he’s currently working on.
“I got either a week or two weeks, depending on when I play next, to kind of trim the fat a little bit and get tighter and more consistent.”
The 32-year-old has not won since April 2022, and he will be looking to end that stretch as the season moves forward. Even so, Spieth said he feels confident about where his game stands and expects his results to follow soon.

Jordan Spieth tied for 24th at the 2026 Sony Open in Hawaii, which ended Sunday, January 18, 2026, at Waialae Country Club in Honolulu. Chris Gotterup won the event at 16-under par.
Making his 2026 PGA TOUR season debut, Spieth put together four steady rounds and finished at 7-under par. His scores of 68, 68, 68, and 69 added up to 273, leaving him nine shots behind the winner.
After the tournament, Spieth said the week helped him shake off the rust and that his game is moving in the right direction after offseason work on his swing.
Spieth said his ball-striking and control improved compared to a month ago after time away from competition.
Even with steady scoring, a few mistakes and missed putts can quickly push a player down the leaderboard, which is why he viewed the result as a step forward while still seeing clear areas to fix.
When asked if his problems were mainly because Waialae’s greens are tricky, he said, “It’s a little bit,” meaning the greens play a role, but they aren’t the full excuse.

Spieth said it’s difficult to judge his putting when he’s only practicing at home, but tournament rounds make it clear what needs work.
With limited PGA TOUR starts in recent months, he added that he feels further along now than he did at the same stage last season and is focused on improving day by day.
The numbers at Waialae offered some support.
Jordan Spieth ranked 35th in strokes gained putting for the week, helped by a strong third round where he gained nearly three shots on the field.
Still, his putting has been inconsistent over the past six seasons, with rankings of 65th, 101st, 79th, 155th, 33rd, and 105th.
Even so, the week gave him a reason to believe his game is trending toward contention in 2026.
