Greg Norman’s fascination with aviation began long before his rise in professional golf. Growing up near a Royal Australian Air Force base, he developed an early obsession with aircraft, even undergoing preliminary training to join the Air Force before ultimately choosing golf instead.
Across his playing career and into retirement, Greg Norman has owned seven private jets, according to Prestige. Among the most notable are the Gulfstream V and Gulfstream G550, aircraft synonymous with long-range luxury and efficiency.

His very first private jet, however, was a Lockheed JetStar, purchased in 1988 for $1million, a historically significant aircraft that also marked the beginning of his personal fleet.
“I had a relationship with Bell Helicopter for a long time. I also bought a Jetstar around 1988. I paid a million dollars for it. I flew it around the world, thinking I was the king of the hill. And then I went into a GIII.”
Norman later described how his relationship with Gulfstream involved leasing arrangements that allowed the manufacturer to use his aircraft as demonstrators while he competed internationally.
“I got a relationship with Gulfstream, very similar to the one with Bell Helicopter. I would acquire the aircraft, but they would lease it back at a retail rate. I would [arrive at a tournament] on a Tuesday and wouldn’t leave until Sunday, so my plane would sit idle in the Middle East or Asia or Japan for five or six days, and Gulfstream would use it as a demonstrator.”
In 1988, he further expanded his aviation footprint with the purchase of a Boeing Business Jet 737, featuring an expansive 807-square-foot interior, exceptional for its time.. By 2019, Norman became a brand ambassador for Delta Private Jets,

“I spend an incredible amount of time in the air globetrotting for business and pleasure, and partnering with Delta Private Jets allows me to have the luxury travel experience that I have come to rely on,” said Norman.
Greg Norman’s terrifying experience on the aircraft
Greg Norman shared an in-flight incident via Instagram on Friday, May 10, 2025, after the windscreen of his private plane cracked during a flight from Los Angeles to Florida.
“Inflight LAX – PBI loud pop = shattered windscreen,” Norman wrote. “Only the second time in 40 years of private travel. Returned to LAX to the professionals to make sure all is ok. Thanks, all.”
The earlier incident occurred in August 2012 at Geneva Airport in Switzerland, when Norman was arriving for the Omega Masters Open. The nose landing gear on his Gulfstream IV malfunctioned on landing.
He confirmed there was no further damage and the aircraft returned safely to Los Angeles.
