Haeran Ryu delivered a round for the history books at the Evian Championship on Saturday. The South Korean fired a major-record 11-under 60 to surge from three shots behind into the lead heading into the final round.

Ryu began the day trailing England's Lottie Woad, but her historic performance completely changed the complexion of the tournament.

"But after the putt and I counted my score with my caddie," Ryu said. "Oh my God, it's 11-under par today. It was so amazing. My caddie says, 'Yep.' I'm so happy right now."

At Evian Resort, Ryu shot the lowest round in major championship history. It was an 11-under-par 60 for the 25-year-old, who has set her sights on her second major in three weeks.

The South Korean carded a staggering nine birdies and a lone eagle on the par-4 sixth. It was an Evian Championship front-nine record of 29 for Ryu, who finished at 19-under par after three rounds.

The four-time LPGA winner stands three strokes ahead of Japan's Aki Iwai, as recorded on the Evian Championship leaderboard.

“I think my plan is so different after winning the major because I really wanted to get the major championship, but before I got that one, it was so stressful,” she said. “After the win, my patience is more down and then I can enjoy golf more right now.”

Ryu certainly enjoyed her Saturday round of golf. The KPMG Women's PGA Championship win has visibly lifted the pressure off her shoulders.

However, Iwai will not make things easy for her on Sunday.

Aki Iwai will be out for revenge on Sunday

Japan’s Aki Iwai sits three strokes behind Haeran Ryu. Iwai also registered an impressive round on Saturday.

"Last year I missed the cut, and so I want revenge," Iwai said, as per ESPN. "Really optimistic tomorrow. I just keep going."

It was a performance to forget for Iwai at Evian Resort last year. This time around, she has gone all out to make amends.

The opening-round leader began with a setback, carding a bogey on Saturday’s first hole. However, she did not lose her grip on the round.

Scoring eight birdies and two bogeys, Iwai shot a 65 in the third round. At 16-under par overall, she remains in strong contention to secure her first major title.
