Hannah Green Opens Up on Playing With Minjee Lee During HSBC Victory

Mar 1, 2026, 7:22 PM CUT

Winning a golf tournament is special. But winning it with your husband as your caddie, your best friend playing with you, and in a city you love makes it even more meaningful.

Hannah Green won her seventh LPGA title at the 2026 HSBC Women’s World Championship at Sentosa Golf Club in Singapore on March 1, 2026, finishing 13-under par. This ended a 500-day-long winless streak.

But after the round, the story people were most interested in wasn’t just her win. It was what happened on the course with fellow Australian Minjee Lee.

"I knew that there wasn't probably going to be much conversation between us, perhaps early days depending on how we were both playing," Green told reporters at the post-round press conference at Sentosa Golf Club on March 1, 2026.

"I think I got off to a good start, and Minjee was scrambling to make some pars. She made some good putts, and we had a couple of times where we had to wait."

With Mingee Lee, it could have been tense. But Green said it did not feel that way at all.

Next up is the Australian Open. Green said Lee will probably be in the same position again, right there in contention with her.

That idea excites Green rather than worries her. The two have grown up playing against each other on the Australian circuit. Green said that when she was an amateur, she was ranked behind Lee and a few others.

Now, that has changed a lot.

Patience was clear all day. Green made a birdie on the first hole and an eagle on the eighth hole. Her early lead was very important as the pressure increased on the back nine.

A Seventh Title, a Husband on the Bag and History on Her Side

Jared becoming her caddie was not the plan at the start of 2026. Green’s regular caddie is in the United States and cannot travel because he is waiting for his green card.

So her husband stepped in. He stopped playing his own golf and carried her bag in two tournaments in two different countries.

The result? A top-10 finish in Thailand and then a championship win in Singapore.

"It's very special to be able to share the seventh win, my favourite number, with my husband," Green said at Sentosa Golf Club on March 1, 2026.

Green now has seven LPGA titles. Two of those wins came at this same course in Singapore. Sixteen of the 18 past winners of the HSBC Women’s World Championship later won a major title. That shows how important this trophy is.

Her 2025 season had many ups and downs. She started well, then had a tough summer, but finished the year stronger.

Winning early in 2026 changes her season in a big way. She earns more ranking points. She gets into more tournaments. The last time Green won here, she went on to win two more titles that year. It was the best season of her career.

The Australian Open is next. Jared will continue as her caddie. Minjee Lee will also play.

The next chapter has already begun. Do you think she will have a strong run in 2026? Let us know in the comments!
