Scottie Scheffler has recorded 20 career PGA Tour wins, with his most recent victory coming at the American Express on January 26, marking his first win of the season. 

Following the win, Scheffler’s caddie, Ted Scott, spoke about the competitive edge of the 2025 Open Championship winner.

Speaking on SiriusXM PGA TOUR on January 28, Scott said, “I always say, if Scottie Scheffler was playing a nine-year-old girl in ping pong, he would want to beat her 21–nothing,” Scott added. “And then he would apologize afterwards, but while it was going on, he would have no mercy.” 

Scott said competing against him creates the same response in any setting. He noted that when he first began working with him, he was ranked 19th in the world and carried a plain white golf bag without logos.

He added that records, money, and fame are not his focus. Instead, he competes because he wants to be involved. He prepares with purpose and works to put himself in contention.

Reflecting on the offseason, Scott said, “This offseason, I think they worked really hard on his body. It’s probably the best I’ve seen him look as far as set up.”

“Watching him on the range, warming up every day, everything just looks so parallel and symmetrical,” he added. “He told me he had a really good off-season.”

That work showed results quickly. Scheffler won The American Express by four shots at 27-under. 

With the victory, he secured his 20th career PGA Tour win and moved past $100 million in career earnings.

As a result, he joined Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the only players to record four major championships and 20 PGA Tour victories before turning 30.

Scott finished by saying it is rewarding to watch the effort, the preparation, and the results come together.

Scottie Scheffler’s Last Season Matched Ted Scott’s View

During the 2025 season, Scottie Scheffler won six official events on the PGA Tour. Among those wins were the PGA Championship and The Open Championship, bringing his career major total to four.

As a result, he earned his fourth straight PGA Tour Player of the Year honor.

Financially, the season set new marks. His total compensation exceeded $50 million, including bonuses. His official on-course earnings reached $27.6 million.

In terms of results, he finished inside the top 25 in all 20 starts. He recorded 17 top-10 finishes and did not miss a cut.

Statistically, Scheffler led the PGA Tour in scoring average at 68.131. That figure was nearly three strokes lower than the tour average of 71.079 and has been surpassed only once, by Tiger Woods.

He was also named PGA Tour Player of the Year through the Jack Nicklaus Award for the fourth straight time.
