"He's Obsessed": Man City Manager Pep Guardiola Gets a Verdict on His Golf Game by PGA Tour Winner

Tommy Fleetwood recently made an appearance on the Men in Blazers YouTube channel, chatting about his Ryder Cup win, soccer, and more.

That's when the subject of Pep Guardiola came up. As fans may know, Manchester City coach Guardiola and Fleetwood met back in 2018 through a mutual friend, and have played golf together ever since.

"I ask him questions all the time, and he never answers them because he's too bothered about his golf swing and golf. It’s like the greatest manager of all time that I’m trying to learn things from, and I’m getting nothing from him."

While their dynamic may surprise some, it doesn't as a shock to fans who've followed the Fleetwood-Guardiola partnership in the last few years.

As Tommy Fleetwood explained years ago, "I don’t think either of us expected to get on with each other as well as we did but we hit it off immediately; his sense of humour is very similar to mine!"

As for Guardiola's golf, Fleetwood had a simple verdict. "He's the ultimate perfectionist. He is obsessed with golf. Like I say, whenever I'm trying to pick stuff up, he is talking about his golf swing."

So could Pep Guardiola play golf full-time?

A few years ago, Pep Guardiola went as far as saying he would rather play golf than coach a soccer team back in 2023.

"If I didn’t have any offers, I’d be in the Maldives. Maybe not the Maldives because it doesn’t have any golf courses! But in a place like that where I could play golf!"

As a result, Guardiola could become an amateur golfer in the future. In fact, he has already partnered with Fleetwood at the BMW PGA Pro-Am, casually advising Fleetwood on his golf swing.
