Rory McIlroy has played on golf’s biggest stages, but earlier this year, Donald Trump Jr. made a cheeky request out of the legendary golfer.
During a round at the pro-am of the Genesis Invitational, he played with Donald Trump Jr.'s daughter, Kai Trump. As Kai posted on her YouTube channel later, Trump Jr. declared McIlroy her 'lucky charm.' It started with Kai's remarks after her shot.
“Good first tee shot. Hit a pretty solid. Honestly, I can’t even feel my hands. I don’t even know how I got them in the fairway.”

That opened the door for the banter to roll, as Donald Trump Jr. joked about it.
“Great shot, we found the good luck charm. Rory, you’re going to be at all our high school tournaments now. Just follow us around. You bring the luck.”
That was basically the invitation. “You birdie the first, you know what that means,” Kai said. “That means everything else is going down from there.”
The jokes kept coming, as someone said that Rory should “just putt right past the hole and set yourself up for later,” fully leaning into the superstition.
At the same time, McIlroy appreciated the golf niche Kai carved out for herself on YouTube. "Those guys are killing it. They found a niche and it's really cool and it serves a purpose for a lot of people... I think there's space for all of this. Yeah, I can see when the golf consumer might get a little fatigued of everything that's sort of available to them."
