Historic Scottish golf course suffers major damage after vandal attack

Vandalism at Scottish golf courses has been on the rise. Recently, a golf course in Clydebank suffered major damage from bikers.
Earlier this week, at Dalmuir Golf Course, bikers vandalized one of the greens. One of the trustees came out and expressed their heart-wrenching emotions.
“It’s not the first time this has happened here in recent months, and other golf courses in the area have also been affected. People give up their time to make sure the course is in great condition, and it’s extremely disheartening to see that work go out the window,” trustee Joe Marr told Bunkered.

This vandalism attack isn’t out of the blue. Other similar incidents have taken place in the area, and the charity-run golf course is the latest victim.
The bikers ripped up the putting surface around the flag and left deep tyre marks in circles. According to the trustee, they even took off the flag once.
“These masked men on bikes know exactly what they’re doing. In one instance, they’d taken the flag out of the hole to drive over the hole – it’s complete malice. What’s worse is that these guys will know people who play at the course. They’ll know people in the community who enjoy using the facility,” Marr added, as reported by Bunkered.
The club has contacted the police regarding this incident and is hoping to find the culprits.
A similar incident took place at a golf club in the North West of England, and they took major steps.
Leigh Golf Club issues warning after vandalism
Leigh Golf Club in Culcheth had one of its putting surfaces ripped up by electric bikes.
“Anyone caught damaging the greens like this will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” a social media statement from the golf club read.
The club reached out to the local community to gain CCTV footage of the bikers. The vandalism was part of a series of attacks that had left the golf club helpless and damaged, as reported by Bunkered.
As a result, they reported the incident to the police and temporarily secured parts of the club's boundary to reduce the possibility of future attacks.
